Terms of Rental

Important rules regarding scooter rental liability, damage policies, and Bali traffic laws.

NO INSURANCE COVERAGE NOTICE

All rentals provided by Mara Bike Rental are NOT covered by collision or comprehensive vehicle insurance. The renter assumes full financial liability for any damage, loss, or theft.

1. Zero Insurance & Full Damage Liability

  • No Insurance Included: Mara Bike Rental operates on a self-insured renter model. No damage insurance, collision damage waiver (CDW), or theft protection is provided or included in rental rates.
  • Full Cost of Damage: Any damage to the motorcycle, accessories (helmets, surf racks, phone mounts), or third-party property incurred during the rental period must be paid in full by the renter.
  • Repair Assessment: Repairs will be charged at official authorized Honda / Yamaha dealer repair prices for genuine spare parts plus labor and vehicle downtime fees.
  • Total Theft or Total Loss: In event of theft, unrecoverable loss, or total destruction of the motorcycle, the renter must pay the current market value of the replacement vehicle in full.

2. Indonesian Road Laws & Driving Responsibilities

Renters must strictly obey all Indonesian traffic laws (UU No. 22 Tahun 2009) and Bali regional road safety regulations:

  • Helmets Mandatory: Driver and passenger must wear a standard SNI-approved helmet properly strapped at all times when operating the motorcycle. Operating without a helmet incurs police fines (up to IDR 250,000) and immediate rental termination.
  • Licensing Requirements: Driver must possess a valid motorcycle license from their home country along with a valid International Driving Permit (IDP - Category A). Driving without a valid permit is illegal in Indonesia.
  • Left-Hand Traffic: Vehicles in Indonesia drive on the LEFT side of the road. Always yield right of way at intersections and roundabouts according to local rules.
  • Zero Alcohol & Drug Tolerance: Driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or drugs is strictly prohibited. Violators face immediate vehicle confiscation, severe legal penalties under Indonesian law, and full liability for all costs.
  • Responsible Driving: Off-road riding, beach riding, stunt riding, racing, or carrying more than 1 passenger (overloading) is prohibited. Violators will be fined and blacklisted.

3. Traffic Violations & Police Fines

  • The renter is solely responsible for paying any traffic fines, police tickets (Tilang), parking penalties, or vehicle impoundment fees incurred during the rental period.
  • If the vehicle is impounded by Bali traffic police due to driver negligence or missing permits, rental fees continue to accrue until the vehicle is released, and all legal costs must be covered by the renter.

4. Security Deposit & ID Verification

  • A valid original Passport or official identity document must be presented for verification upon vehicle delivery.
  • A refundable security deposit may be required prior to key handover. The deposit will be refunded upon inspection when the vehicle is returned undamaged and with original fuel level.

5. Indemnification & Liability Disclaimer

Mara Bike Rental is not liable for personal injuries, medical expenses, property damages, or third-party claims arising from motorcycle operation. Renters are strongly encouraged to hold comprehensive travel and personal accident insurance.
